One rule for any artist selected by me to create for Bajito Onda Collection Brand is that there can be no violence or vulgarity. The rest is up to the artist. I personally love edgy art, but edgy on this side not the other side. There is a fine line. Torres always respected that and for him to respect something I'm sure took a lot of courage. His amazing intricacy keeps viewers looking at the designs for hours. They are never ending stories and tales from his past and present and sometimes future. I used to make the five hour drive way up north from Dallas to sit with him for hours only to finally get through to him in a sane and respectful of some sorts way for him to talk to me. out of a 5 hour visitation behind the glass and on the prison phone maybe we would finally get down to what I went there for (to talk sense to him about a design I wanted bad from him for the Collection) it would maybe be only fifteen minutes from the sane part of his mind. Such a brilliant guy, but damn, to try to communicate with him from the other side of the glass - was a monumental endeavor.
I still respect him so much as an artist, but as a human type being I had to give up trying and say enough is enough.
Its been over ten years since we communicated and I often wonder how he really is and what he's really up to, in prison our not.
